Jeff Hafley became Miami's head coach in 2026, bringing experience as an NFL secondary coach and coordinator and four seasons leading Boston College.
The Dolphins named Hafley their 12th head coach on January 19, 2026. His path included NFL defensive-back roles, a nationally prominent Ohio State defense, the Boston College head-coaching job, and two seasons coordinating Green Bay's defense.
Hafley began coaching in 2001 and developed a specialty in defensive backs. He reached the NFL with Tampa Bay and later coached secondaries in Cleveland and San Francisco. As Ohio State's co-defensive coordinator in 2019, he helped produce a defense that led the nation in several major categories and reached the College Football Playoff.
Boston College hired Hafley as head coach in 2020. The Eagles reached bowl eligibility in three of his four seasons and closed 2023 with a Fenway Bowl victory. Hafley returned to the NFL as Green Bay's defensive coordinator in 2024, helping the Packers improve defensively and reach the playoffs in consecutive seasons.
Miami hired Hafley on January 19, 2026. His résumé gives the Dolphins a head coach with experience managing a college program, teaching coverage, developing defensive backs, and coordinating an NFL defense.
