How long does each team have to make a first-round pick?

Under the current NFL Draft format, a team has eight minutes for a first-round selection.

The clock begins after the prior pick is submitted. A trade or earlier decision can shorten the practical wait, but the selection must be communicated before time expires to preserve the team's exclusive turn.
