What Does FLEX Mean in Fantasy Football?

FLEX is a lineup position that usually accepts a running back, wide receiver, or tight end.

The spot gives managers flexibility to use the strongest eligible option rather than filling another fixed RB, WR, or TE position. In a PPR league, a high-volume receiver may be a strong FLEX. In another week, a running back with increased carries may be the better choice.

A standard FLEX normally does not accept quarterbacks. A Superflex usually does, which makes the two positions strategically different. Some leagues also use receiver-only or other customized flex positions, so verify the eligibility shown in your league settings.
