NFL General · FAQ
Can an AFC team play an NFC team during the regular season?
Yes. AFC teams and NFC teams play one another during the regular season. Under the current scheduling formula, each club plays all four teams from one division in the opposite conference, plus one additional interconference opponent based on the previous season's standings.
The rotating formula means every team is scheduled to face every team in the other conference at least once during a four-year cycle. Interconference games use the same NFL playing rules as games within a conference.
