How many conferences are in the NFL?

The NFL has two conferences: the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference. They are commonly abbreviated AFC and NFC.

Each conference has 16 teams divided among four divisions. AFC teams and NFC teams meet throughout the regular season, and the conference champions play each other in the Super Bowl.
