What is against-the-spread pick'em?

Against-the-spread Pick'em grades selections after applying a point spread to the favorite and underdog.

A favorite must win by more than the listed spread to cover, while an underdog can cover by winning outright or losing by fewer points than the spread. A result landing exactly on a whole-number spread is commonly a push, subject to pool rules.
