What does a center do?

The center snaps the ball to begin the play and blocks in the middle of the offensive line.

Centers also help identify defensive fronts, communicate protection calls, and coordinate assignments with the guards and quarterback. Accurate snaps, awareness, leverage, and interior blocking are essential to the role.
