What does an offensive tackle do?

An offensive tackle blocks at the outside edge of the offensive line.

Tackles protect the quarterback against edge rushers on passing plays and create running lanes on rushing plays. Left and right tackles face different matchups, but both require size, balance, footwork, strength, and recognition of defensive pressure.
