Why do different websites have different power rankings?

Power rankings differ because there is no official NFL formula for ordering teams by overall strength. Publishers choose how much weight to give record, point differential, opponent quality, efficiency, injuries, recent games, and preseason expectations.

Rankings may also serve different purposes. One may describe current accomplishments, another may estimate future performance, and another may combine a statistical model with editorial judgment. Those choices can produce reasonable differences in team order.
