What is an NFL bye week?

An NFL bye week is a scheduled week off during the regular season. Each team currently plays 17 games across an 18-week schedule, leaving one week without a game.

Bye weeks give teams time for rest, recovery, and preparation. They also matter in fantasy football because players on a bye produce no statistics that week and must usually be replaced in starting lineups.
