How Wide Receivers Score Fantasy Points

Wide receivers score fantasy points through receiving yards and touchdowns, plus receptions in half-PPR and full-PPR leagues. Some receivers also earn points on rushing attempts or return plays when league settings include them.

Targets create opportunity

A target is a pass thrown toward a receiver. Not every target becomes a catch, but consistent target volume creates more chances for receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Routes, snap share, and red-zone usage help explain whether that volume may continue.

Scoring format matters

A receiver catching many short passes gains more value in PPR than in standard scoring. A deep threat may need fewer catches to produce large yardage, but can have a less predictable weekly floor.

Evaluate role, quarterback play, team passing volume, health, and competition for targets rather than relying only on the previous week's points.
