What Is a FLEX Position?

A FLEX position is a flexible starting spot that usually accepts a running back, wide receiver, or tight end. It lets you start the best eligible skill-position player instead of filling another position-specific slot.

Why FLEX matters

FLEX makes roster depth more useful. One week, a running back with increased carries may be the strongest choice. Another week, a heavily targeted receiver may offer a better projection. Scoring format can influence the decision because receptions add value in PPR leagues.

Setting the FLEX

Compare opportunity, matchup, health, and game time. When possible, place a player with an early game in a fixed RB, WR, or TE slot and reserve FLEX for a later player. That preserves more replacement options if news changes before the later game.

A standard FLEX generally does not allow quarterbacks. A Superflex normally does, so always confirm the eligibility shown by your league platform.
