What is a pressure?

A pressure is a measure of pass-rush disruption. Many charting systems group sacks, hits or knockdowns, and hurries, but the precise definition and counting rules vary.

Do not assume every published pressure total uses the same formula. A quarterback can complete a pass while pressured, so pressures are not simply failed pass plays. Compare players using the same source, and check how shared sacks and overlapping events are counted.
