An NFL statistic measures something that happened in a game, across a season, or during a career. Examples include completions, rushing yards, touchdowns, and time of possession.

Some statistics count events; others combine those counts into averages, percentages, or ratings. For example, 18 completions in 30 attempts produce a 60 percent completion rate. Always check the statistic's definition and the games included before comparing players.
