How are power rankings different from NFL standings?

NFL standings rank teams using official wins, losses, ties, and league tiebreakers. Power rankings estimate how strong teams appear to be.

A team with a worse record can rank higher in a power ranking because of schedule difficulty, injuries, efficiency, point differential, or recent play. Standings determine division positions and playoff qualification; power rankings have no official competitive effect.
